The Fair Wage Network collects living cost data in almost all countries through a robust and continuously updated research methodology.
The combination of worker-reported expenditures and local market surveys enables accurate living wage benchmarks around the world, which are adjusted every year.
Data Collection Methods
The Fair Wage Network collects living cost data through two methods of survey:
Workers at different income levels who report on their family’s basic expenditures.
Local market surveys capture the prices of basic goods and services.

The FWN thresholds on the Living Wage have been recognised by IDH at the beginning of 2021, and IDH recognition was renewed from 2025, as highlighted by its Living Wage Indentifier.
